Wednesday 9th May Trial Post

Could have been better but could have been worse.

Peter M removed the wheels from the three remaining jacks to be sent away for retyring. He freed up the swivels on each wheel of each jack one of which was seized showing this work was  long overdue and finally packaged them up on a pallet for sending off to Birmingham once I have arranged collection.

The Davids S and F inspected TOM replacement bearing which was deemed satisfactorily after running in.

They cleaned out the mechanical oil filters which as expected had trapped loose paint flakes, some dirt and a few flakes of scraped whitemetal from the journal

Later they made a new gasket for the crankcase but this proved difficult to refit and more work is required.  The cleaned Geny compartment was rechecked and the Exhauster cleaned and Sump topped up by Ian K

Earlier I had tutored a new Driver on our Drewry Southerham and checked Iron Men for safety devices before they were used to repack rail joints on Broadwater Lane Bridge.

Finally REG oil leak was further investigated and a plan made to pressure test the side void the Heat Exchanger is bracketed on to check for cracks in the Bedplate side sheets.
